A girls’ football academy in Wishaw has received more than 80 new football kits, as part of a sponsorship with Specsavers.
The Main Street store has provided funding for the Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers Girl Academy through the sponsorship, providing new, branded kits for all young players across the under 15s, under 13s, under 11s and under 9s teams.
Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers is an all-inclusive girl’s football academy, who are able to offer football to players ranging from beginners to dedicated youth players providing a safe learning environment for girls to enjoy football and develop their skills.
Laura Baird, store director at Specsavers in Wishaw, said: “As we play a key part caring for the eyecare and hearing of the local community, it’s also very important that we support the community in any way we can.
“As soon as we heard from the Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers Football Academy about their need for these extra kits, we were more than happy to assist them.
“Everyone in store loved meeting some of the girls from the academy and we’re hoping to have helped to inspire the next generation of future footballing stars in Scotland.”
