BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent was noticeably missing from the show on Monday (September 30).

Instead of Sally, presenter Jon Kay was accompanied by Sarah Campbell, who sat with him on the signature red sofa to deliver the morning headlines.

Sally, aged 53, is a regular face on BBC Breakfast, presenting alongside 54 year old Jon from Monday to Wednesday each week. Her absence on Monday sparked queries since it was not the first time this month she was not in her usual spot; earlier, she had taken a break for a holiday.

Sarah Campbell, stepping in for Sally, is not a stranger to the BBC Breakfast team, having been with the BBC for more than two decades. She serves as a Royal correspondent and often presents various news items on both television and radio.

Sallys absence echoes that of fellow BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty, who was also away from the programme recently. Typically seen on Saturday mornings with Charlie Stayt, Naga missed the broadcast on 28 September, reports the Mirror.

Nina Warhurst took over Naga’s duties while she was off for unspecified reasons. The fill-in Saturday brought some friction between Nina, 43, and Charlie during a debate on a travel gadget aimed at keeping a check on one’s luggage during flights.

The discussion was sparked by Charlie’s admission that it had “prompted a little discussion in the studio already”, with Nina’s laughter possibly indicative of an animated discussion to follow.

“I don’t think I want a tracker in my bag,” he declared, prompting Nina to retort, “Do you not? ” Charlie expanded on his point: “Main reason because if you’re constantly tracking it and you can literally see you’re going one way and the luggage is going to a completely different place, I just think that’s really annoying to know.”

However, Nina disagreed, stating: “But knowledge is power. Then you can get ahead of it, you know where it is.”

But Charlie was quick to counter: “Well, not if you’re on a plane going one way and it’s on a plane going the other way. There’s nothing you can do.”

As their conversation intensified, Nina, clearly becoming frustrated, reminded him, “Your phone should be on airplane mode when you’re on the plane, Charlie.”

Although Charlie spoke over her, passionately expressing his stance on the matter.

“You’re just going to spend eight hours thinking about the fact that when you land your luggage is not there,” he argued. Undeterred, his co-host firmly countered: “No, I’d rather know. I would rather know.”
