A man who threw his pyjama-clad partner on to the street after attacking her in his home has been jailed for 16 months.

Aiden Henderson, 49, admitted assaulting the woman to her severe injury at his flat in Greenrigg Road, Cumbernauld, on April 11.

Airdrie Sheriff Court heard that the couple had been seeing each other on and off for four years.

The assault happened after they had been drinking at his home.

Sarah Healing, prosecuting, said: “About 6am they were in the living room and started arguing.

“Henderson grabbed the victim by the hair and started to pull her back and forth so that they ended up in the hallway.

“He then struck her head against the wall twice, causing her to fall, before kicking her repeatedly on the head and body.

“He was shouting at her to get out and then dragged her by the hair to the front door and ejected her. She was wearing pyjamas.

“The victim pleaded with Henderson to let her back in and eventually he did.

“She sat in the hallway, crying and bleeding from a cut to the left side of her head.

“She asked Henderson for help but he refused so she crawled into the bedroom and phoned for an ambulance.”

When police officers arrived Henderson told them: “She’s in the bedroom. I asked her to leave and she didn’t.”

Ms Healing told the court: “The officers described Henderson as being perfectly calm. He appeared to be unfazed by the situation.

“There were signs of a disturbance and Ms Walsh was distressed, dishevelled and bleeding.

“She was taken to Monklands Hospital and a 4cm cut to her scalp was closed with four staples. She also had bruising to her body.”

As well as jailing Henderson, Sheriff Siobhan Connelly imposed a five-year non-harassment order.
