NORTH CAROLINA (WBTV) – President Joe Biden is visiting North Carolina on Wednesday to survey the catastrophic damage left behind by Hurricane Helene.

The massive storm swept through the Carolinas on Friday, Sept. 27, devastating many areas, specifically western North Carolina. Hundreds of thousands of people across the Carolinas remained without power on Monday, Sept 31.

In the aftermath of Helene, “disaster roaming” has been enabled in N.C. to help connect residents who may be otherwise offline.

Disaster roaming allows any phone on any cellular network to access any available network to connect to, regardless of provider.

Throughout the southeast, the Associated Press reported Monday morning that more than 100 people were dead.

Countless roads are still blocked or damaged, with the NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) echoing the same message Monday that it has put out for days: “All roads in Western North Carolina should be considered closed.”

Several options can be found here for anyone looking for ways to help those affected by Helene.
