Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has activated the Ohio National Guard to help parts of North Carolina recover from the devastating flooding and other damage from Hurricane Helene.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSAZ) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has activated the Ohio National Guard to help parts of North Carolina recover from the devastating flooding and other damage from Hurricane Helene.

The Governor’s Office released that information Monday, saying a CH47 helicopter and six soldiers from an air squad are on their way to North Carolina to help deliver supplies, equipment and personnel.

“Ohio is answering the call to help Governor Cooper and North Carolina in its recovery,” DeWine said in the release. “In the aftermath of this storm, many roads are blocked or completely washed away, so this aerial support will be crucial in getting resources where they’re needed the most.”

The air squad that is headed to North Carolina — Company B, 3rd Battalion, 238th Aviation Regiment — is based in North Canton, Ohio.
