A man arrested in connection with an attempted murder in a Scots town has been released without charge.
The 53-year-old was detained by Police Scotland officers following an alleged incident in Greenock, Inverclyde, in the early hours of Saturday, September 28.
An investigation was launched after a 21-year-old man was found injured in the seaside town’s West Blackhall Street at around 12.10am.
The area was cordoned off as officers began their investigation, while the injured man was rushed to hospital for treatment. His condition is not known.
Earlier today, Police Scotland said a man had been arrested in connection with the incident, which is being treated as attempted murder.
But this evening the force revealed the suspect had been released without charge and that the probe into the incident is still ongoing.
A Police Scotland statement read: “A 53-year-old man who was arrested in connection with an attempted murder in Greenock, has been released without charge. Around 12.10am on Saturday, 28 September, 2024, officers were called to a report of a 21-year-old man found injured in the West Blackhall Street area. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
