Rory McIlroy will play alongside PGA chief Jay Monahan AND PIF boss Yasir Al-Rumayyan during the Alfred Dunhill Links.
And the bosses of both camps will be in the same group at Carnoustie on day one. Talks to end the feud which has engulfed golf and bring a resolution have been ongoing for over a year. In a Scottish twist, the two top men at the head of the organisations have been brought together and will also join-up with McIlroy.
Fourteen LIV players, including superstar Jon Rahm, will tee it up at St Andrews, Kingbarns and Carnoustie for the DP World Tour event. In the format where pros are teamed-up with amateurs, Thursday’s opening round, Monahan and Al-Rumayyan are together in the same group. Monahan plays alongside two-time BMW PGA Championship winner Billy Horschel, while Al-Rumayyan is paired with LIV’s Dean Burmester.
Their opening round begins at 9am local time from Carnoustie’s 10th tee, while in their second round at Kingsbarns, Monahan partners with McIlroy and Al-Rumayyan will team up with Johan Rupert, the head of luxury brand Richemont and the event’s founder.
In Saturday’s round three on the Old Course, McIlroy will then be playing with Al-Rumayyan and Monahan will play alongside Rupert as the game’s top-brass get a chance to have discussions on the course.
