A casualty was rushed to hospital after a ‘terrifying’ house fire in Glasgow. Emergency crews scrambled to Forge Street in the Germiston area of the city just after 7.30am on Wednesday, October 2.

One person was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but no information is available on their condition at this stage. Four fire appliances were despatched to the scene and crews remain in attendance.

An image shows the property, with all of the front windows smashed and the bricks badly charred. A number of household items can be seen lying outside of the house that are believed to have been ruined in the blaze.

Speaking to the Record, one local said: “It was a really terrifying fire to look at. Flames were coming out from the windows and there were a lot of emergency services here.

“I just feel for the family. A lot of their belongings are damaged and lying outside the house. Hopefully nobody was seriously hurt.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at attend an incident on Forge Street, Glasgow. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.37am on Wednesday, 2 October, to reports of a fire within a domestic property on Forge Street in Germiston, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the scene… crews remain in attendance.”
