There’s nothing better than coming back from a long autumnal ramble – but then comes the less delightful job of dealing with any soggy footwear. Wet shoes can often lock you out of walking in the following days as you desperately wait for them to dry – not to mention the smell that might start coming from them.

There’s an easy solution, though, and it’s one that was recently spotlit by consumer editor Alice Beer on This Morning in front of thousands of viewers – electric shoe dryers. Right now, on Amazon, you can grab a pair of Snowpea Electric Shoe Dryers for just £19.54, down from their regular price of £22.99. You could also spend £22.94 to get the upgraded extendable versions if you prefer.

Beer took to the airwaves back in 2021 to talk people through gadgets that could help them save on their energy bills while staying warm. She said the gadget could “save your life” if you have a lot of shoes in your home. Describing how they’ll give you “gorgeous and dry” shoes, she also gushed about how they could go in “gloves, socks, anything”.

These are a pair of handy wired warmers, which you can simply slip into your shoes or boots and turn on for a quick-drying effect. There’s a timer mode and also deep flame-retardant treatments to make them fire-resistant and energy-efficient. In fact, there’s even a temperature control that stops them from overheating your shoes, so that they dry the same way every time.

Don’t just take it from us or Alice, though – more than 2,300 people have left reviews after buying the shoe dryers, averaging out to a score of 4.4 stars. One of these happy customers wrote: “The Snowpea Electric Shoe Dryer has been a lifesaver, especially during rainy weather. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, wet shoes are always an issue, but this dryer has solved that problem quickly and efficiently. It’s super easy to use – just plug it in, and the gentle heat works wonders in drying out shoes, boots, and even gloves.”

Another user said: “Happy with the shoe dryer. Use it on outdoor work boots. It helps dry the boots after a wet day.” A third concluded: “The timed auto-off feature is incredibly convenient. With options for 3, 6, or 9 hours, I can set it to dry my boots overnight or while I’m busy with other tasks. The dryer effectively removes moisture and helps to eliminate odours, leaving my football boots fresh and ready for the next game.”

Some others have shared criticisms, though – one person wrote: “It takes a minimum of 9 hours each day to dry them, but usually I have to switch the unit back on again after 9 hours as they still feel damp inside.” Another added: “Ended up buying a different brand that had a fan element, as these were good at drying one area of the shoes but the lack of airflow really hindered how well they worked.”

If you want other options, Lakeland’s Electric Shoe Dryer costs a bit more, at £24.99. At Decathlon, meanwhile, you can get a Boot Dryer for just £12.99.

That said, neither of these has the glowing endorsement of so many users, or indeed Alice Beer – so for the original experience you’d be best off going for the Snowpea Electric Shoe Dryers on Amazon. Pick them up now to take advantage of that deal!
