Lorraine viewers claimed to ‘switch off’ the programme as they all said the same thing about the TV host’s anniversary special. The Scottish presenter, 64, marked her 40th television career with a surprise episode, which she said she had ‘no idea’ what will happening.

Just before her self-titled chat show, Lorraine joined Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain, confessing that she was completely unaware of what to expect as she revealed that the show had been ‘hijacked’ by two very special women.

Later, fellow presenters Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh took over hosting duties and surprised Lorraine with a special show featuring a series of special guests making unexpected appearances to congratulate her on the milestone, along with various throwback clips of the star.

Lorraine was accompanied by her younger brother Graham, who appeared on the screen behind her in the studio. This left the presenter astounded as he usually doesn’t make TV appearances.

A clip from his first time on the programme, nearly 20 years ago, was shown as he joked: “Wow, that was nearly 20 pounds ago for me! One of us hasn’t changed and it is not me!”

Reflecting on that time in his life, The LA based entertainment correspondent told Lorraine that as he was doing TV in America but was made to feel welcome by her.
