Rugby sensation and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! favourite James Haskell has alarmed followers with a snap from his hospital bed, revealing he’s undergone unexpected surgery following a “horrific” injury.
The 39 year old shared the startling update on social media, captioning the image: “Not what I thought I’d be doing this week! But I’m alive, the Op went well. did someone say Rehab? I know a lot about Rehab. Let the journey begin.”
Providing an update later, James revealed he’d ripped a tendon off his arm bone while he was filming content for social media.
Messages of goodwill poured in for James as sports stars and fans rallied around him. Scots rugby colleague Thom Evans sent best wishes with “Speedy recovery bud”.
Wayne Lineker jokingly commented: “That’s the best looking I’ve seen you tbf mate,” while England legend Lawrence Dallaglio playfully suggested: “Just keep talking to yourself and you’ll fall asleep in no time to get some rest, who’s delivering the Nobu?”, reports the Mirror.
Phil Vickery chimed in with a caring “Look after yourself big man,” and amidst the concern, a fan expressed: “Noooo darling! ! !” Despite his predicament, James maintained a cheerful expression even with an arm in a sling. This medical setback occurred just prior to a planned holiday with ex wife Chloe Madeley and their young daughter Bodhi, aged two.
The pair had made headlines last October when they revealed their separation during the broadcast of their ITV reality show, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair. The announcement came amidst swirling speculation and brought clarity to their supporters through joint statements acknowledging the end of their five-year union.
In an extensive update, they declared their “sole focus” is now on Bodhi and pledged to “continue to co-parent with nothing but love”. A year following their separation, Chloe discussed their joint parenting efforts with Closer Magazine: “We have found a way to do it, but it’s not always great. We have really hard times with it sometimes,” she explained.
“We also still argue, there’s no denying that and it’ll probably be this way forever. But James and I, whatever our disagreements, are adamant that we won’t weaponise Bodhi or use her as a bargaining tool.”
Chloe’s dad Richard Madeley has disclosed that the family plans to holiday together in France very soon.
“Chloe is very happy, she and James are going to France together, they have a very happy uncoupling,” shared the Good Morning Britain host when speaking to the Sun. “It’s a very civilised relationship we see a lot of James, he’s at the house quite a bit, whether with Chloe or by himself.”
He commented further: “It’s a very civilised divorce.”
James vaulted into fame first through his rugby exploits, followed by TV as he joined the troop of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2019.
His stay wasn’t without controversy; denouncing fellow campers as “stupid”, James was the fourth celebrity voted out.
Now, he’s diving into music with DJ sets, showcasing his talents in Ibiza, and even rolling out his own tracks.
