TravelSupermarket has conducted a study to find the perfect getaway for beer aficionados, pinpointing a destination where a bottle of beer at a beach bar is a mere £1.43. The research team compared prices in sought-after holiday spots across Europe and North Africa, including Greece, Portugal and Spain to compile their findings.

To test TravelSupermarket’s findings in real-world conditions, travel expert Chelsea Dickenson ventured to Catalonia with the mission to uncover the most affordable prosecco and beer, sharing her experiences on behalf of TravelSupermarket, reports the Express.

Chelsea commented: “When TravelSupermarket revealed their study on the cheapest places to find prosecco – I was over the moon! In the last few years, we’ve really seen prices go up in many destinations and so it was a great reminder that there are still plenty of bargains out there so that we can really treat ourselves when we’re on our next holiday.”

She added: “With the results under my belt, I headed off to Tarragona in Costa Dorada to see just how easy it was to find sparkling wine for £3.01 and I was delighted to discover it was so, so easy!”

Chelsea further shared: “Literally the first bar that I walked past had Cava for just £2.96 and there was a lot of choice for places offering a glass of fizz for a similar price. The cheapest price I found was just £2.10 a glass and the best bit? The measures are massive everywhere. Honestly, I think it’s at least a glass and a half versus what we get served in the UK!”

The question remains, however: which location offers the lowest price for a pint of beer? According to TravelSupermarket, Egypt is the top spot for beer enthusiasts, with a bottle of beer costing a mere £1.43, making it the most affordable destination for a chilled brew.

The Dominican Republic (£1.98) and Antalya in Turkey (£2.08) are hot on its heels. However, Dubai takes the crown as the priciest beach bar beer destination, with prices skyrocketing to £9.62 per bottle.

Meanwhile, for those holidaymakers seeking to add a touch of sparkle to their trip, Spain’s Costa del Sol and Costa Dorada offer the cheapest glass of prosecco or local sparkling wine at just £3.01, with Paphos in Cyprus trailing closely behind at £3.87 per glass.

Interestingly, while Egypt tops the list for beer affordability, a glass of bubbly will set you back a hefty £13.35 per glass. TravelSupermarket highlighted that a traveller’s preferred tipple could sway decisions regarding holiday destinations.
