A Still Game superfan has gone viral on TikTok after his fiancée uploaded a video of him guessing the name of episodes after hearing just a short clip from the beginning of each programme.

Conor Mochrie, 32, from Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire, should probably apply to go on Mastermind with Still Game as his specialist subject, given how obsessed he seems to be with the hit Scots sitcom. The iconic show first aired in 2002 and stars feisty pensioners Jack and Victor, played by Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill.

The video, captioned “When Still Game is your fiancé’s special interest”, was filmed by Conor’s other half Katelyn Thomson, and shows Conor with his back against the wall under their living room TV, facing away from the screen.

In it, the couple, who have been together for eight years and are expecting their first baby soon, play a game that starts when Katelyn hits play on a Still Game episode on Netflix. The first one she picks is season one, episode two: “Faimly.”

After just a couple of lines of dialogue from the opening scene, Conor correctly says the title. But his skills are even more impressive when it comes to season one, episode three: “Cauld.” He gets that one before any of the characters utter a single word.

That’s not the only episode he manages to figure out without hearing any dialogue. He also identifies the season two episode “Scran” in the first couple of seconds “just from the humming”.

His next-level Still Game skills have sent the video massively viral on TikTok. It’s garnered almost two million views so far, and over a thousand comments from people all across Scotland – and beyond.

One particularly impressed commenter said: “Man’s a legend! Does he go about his day quoting it? I do this and my husband doesn’t get the references. It’s tragic.” Katelyn replied: “Not as much as you would think but yeah he does!”

Another person asked: “I thought I new Still Game, but how did you get Cauld?” (It was from the sound of the wind, apparently.)

Katelyn, who goes by @katelyndawnthom on TikTok, spoke to the Daily Record about how the viral video came about, and how Conor has ended up being such an expert on the much-loved TV show.

“He’s watched the series more times than he can count since it first came out,” she explained. “He even watches it every single night to fall asleep to. He loves other Scottish shows too, like Rab C Nesbitt.

“His Still Game obsession drives me crazy,” she admitted. “Although I like the show I don’t enjoy falling asleep to it every night and waking up in the middle of the night to it still on!”

When Conor saw another couple try the same trick in a similar TikTok video, he was sure that he could do better and roped Katelyn into filming his attempt.

“I only made the TikTok so we could send it to his friend,” she said. “We never imagined it would go viral! The reaction has been brilliant and we have both loved looking at all the comments.

“There has been a couple of messages from people stating that he must be cheating by looking in a mirror so we may have to do a part two with a blindfold!”

Despite the conspiracy theorists, Katelyn says that she and Conor are delighted by the massive response to the video and they can’t wait to film a follow up. Maybe he should do Chewin The Fat next?
