Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful vehicle fire in Airdrie.

At around 12.55am last night, a car was deliberately torched on the town’s Dalbeattie Braes.

The blaze was extinguished and there were no reports of any injuries.

Detective Sergeant Alison Thomson told Lanarkshire Live: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact us.

“We also ask anyone who may have private CCTV of the area at the time to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 0141 of October 3.
