The sky’s the limit for students of Encore Stars Academy after the theatre school was given the go ahead to extend its East Kilbride studio.
South Lanarkshire Council have granted a change of use request for the adjoining retail unit to their state-of-the-art studio in the Plaza mall with works due to start soon.
Encore Stars Academy opened its base in the town centre in December 2023.
Allen Hannah, who runs the academy, said: “We got approval from the council to have the extended Encore Studios. This will be huge for us and we will be needing support and/or sponsorship to assist us with costs involved in turning the old Halifax – disused for 20 years – into a thriving hub for the arts.”
Encore Studios will house four full-sized mirrored dance studios, a fully functional recording studio, a large reception and welcome area, a photography studio, fully accessible toilet facilities and much more.
Allen added: “Fundraising will be ongoing during this process and we welcome you to join in these activities where possible. Buying tickets for our pantos all directly goes back into the studio so why not grab some tickets, have a good time and help a great cause.”
Earlier this year, Encore’s cast of School of Rock and some of their parents made memories for life when they were invited to the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut to rock out in a video shoot as promotion for their sold out show, based on the hit Jack Black film, which blew audiences away back in April with the breadth of talent on display.
And theatre-goers were rolling in the aisles with musical The Wedding Singer bringing an unforgettable night to East Kilbride Village Theatre filled with romance and laughter.
The talented troupe are back treading the boards at the Village Theatre next month with panto Snow White on November 7-9 and junior panto Cinderella on November 13-16.
