Four Dumfries Harriers found themselves running through streets of Valencia last Saturday in the city’s night time 15k.

It’s a somewhat unique race in that it has a start time of 10.30pm and with temperatures at that time still 22 degrees, it was a fair departure from the usual local races in south west Scotland.

First Harrier in was Alistair Barclay in 1.12.49 running hard but comfortable enough to take in all the sights and the spectacular support.

Andy Goodwin, over line in 1.22.11, said: “That was a very special experience, it’s not often you get to run through a major city on a Saturday night with ten thousand other runners. I loved that so much.”

Running together were Lynn Goodwin and Harrier in exile Sonia Marquez, the dynamic duo crossing the line hand in hand and a little emotional in 1.33.04.

The Harriers meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm at the David Keswick Athletic Centre and welcome along runners of all ages and abilities.
