Kate Middleton and Prince William’s love story is celebrated across the world as a fairytale romance that is as magical now as it was when they first met many years ago.

From discreet signals to tender looks at public events, the pair show that they are still as in love now as when they first met in 2001.

One of the marks of affection underpinning the couple’s long and loving relationship is a treat that the Prince of Wales brings to his wife each night when she has kissed her children goodnight, as we previously reported.

The royals are just like normal people when it comes to celebrating an event, toasting to an important occasion, or simply unwinding after a stressful day – all with an alcoholic drink.

Whether it be a glamorous cocktail, a gin and tonic, or a modest beer, they are not so different from the rest of us in that sense.

A close friend of the royal duo has revealed that William routinely brings Kate a drink once their three children are in bed.

It was previously thought that the Princess’ favourite drink was a pint of Guinness, but new reports suggest something else entirely.

A royal insider revealed: “William will bring Kate a gin and tonic. They look after each other, but in different ways.”

The pair were introduced at St Andrews University, where Kate was studying Art History and William was studying Geography. After years of on-and-off dating, they married in front of the world at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

The Prince and Princess are known to be supportive of each other’s personal interests, whether that be by combining forces on projects they are both passionate about like mental health, or by allowing the other to take centre stage to champion their beliefs.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “Catherine has demonstrated in recent months and even years that she is the real deal. I think her strength is drawn from the fact that she was given such a long apprenticeship.

“Those nine or 10 years when she was allowed to see a little bit of what life will be like in the royal court were completely invaluable.”

She continued: “I suppose she seemed a little bit shy in the beginning. But I think if you compare that relationship to Charles and Diana, it strikes me that William deserves a great deal of credit because he has never appeared jealous of the attention that his wife gets.

“He has gently introduced her into what life would be like and has let her shine and constantly demonstrates that he’s hugely proud of her.

“When she campaigns on certain issues, like mental health or early years learning, he allows her centre stage without quibble. They are an incredibly strong couple which gives her a great deal of confidence.”
