A desperate search is underway to trace a “vulnerable” missing woman from a Scots town.

Christine Bell has been missing from Irvine in North Ayrshire since 6pm Friday. The last sighting of the 62-year-old was on the town’s Middleroad Road near Girdle Troll.

She has not been seen or heard from since. Christine’s worried family raised the alarm over her disappearance after they were unable to get in touch with her.

She was expected to be at home as she had no plans to travel. Christine is described as white, of a slim build and around 5ft 3 inches in height.

She has short, greying hair and wears glasses. Officers have been checking relevant CCTV footage for any additional information about Christine and where she may have gone.

Inspector Michael Cowan said: “Our concern for Christine is growing. Her family expected her to be at home as she had no plans to travel anywhere today. They are understandably worried and reported her missing when they were unable to get in touch with her. I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Christine or who has any information on where she may have gone to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4234 of 4 October 2024.
