Richard Madeley has discussed the topic of ageing and addressed rumours that he dyes his hair. The seasoned Good Morning Britain presenter shared his thoughts on maintaining a youthful appearance during an appearance on the White Wine Question Time podcast, hosted by Kate Thornton.

The 68 year old television personality, who initially shot to fame with his wife Judy Finnigan on ITV’s This Morning, talked about his efforts to stave off the years.

When it comes to his hair, Richard mentioned that he had light locks during childhood which darkened over time, though now, after “20 years”, he sports a greyer tone.

“I’ve been accused of actually dying my hair lighter, which I always happily and honestly refute. I don’t. It’s funny, again, I’ve kind of come full circle!” he said about the assumptions.

According to Richard, his hair generally becomes lighter thanks to the sun exposure while spending time in his “little place” in the south of France. Hence, when he returns to the studio of GMB, some viewers speculate whether he’s had highlights put in his hair.

Kate pointed out that Richard looked like he could be “pass for a man much younger” than his actual age of 68, but Richard suggested his seemingly slow ageing might be attributed to the fact that viewers have watched him age gradually on screen. He expressed to her: “Don’t you think that’s because I’ve not actually ever been off…. So you know, I’m ageing slowly on camera because I haven’t been away for like five years or 10 years,” reports the Mirror.

TV host, Richard Madeley, opened up about keeping an eye on his weight as he grows older, highlighting it as “important” to monitor the scales as one heads into middle age.

In other news, Richard touched upon life with his wife Judy, 76, during a podcast interview. He shared that she is “really enjoying” her departure from television, having ceased regular appearances around 2015.

Judy has shifted her energy towards her passion for writing novels, with her latest offering, Roseland, launched in 2023. Richard conceded that Judy continues to “challenge” him frequently, but believes he “deserves it” most of the time. He confessed: “I think, to be honest, she challenges me more than I challenge her, but that’s probably because I deserve it.”

He added: “I earn it. I think our family and our friends would say that. It tends to be her, you know, pulling me up rather than the other way around.”
