Strictly Come Dancing fans were left scratching their heads on Sunday evening after a twist in the programme’s format during the results episode following Movie Week. Shortly after the episode began, viewers flocked to Twitter to share their dismay over not seeing the usual opening group number performed by the professional dancers.

Confounded fans highlighted the change, with one tweeting, “They’re opening with the results first? ? don’t they nearly go straight into a pro dance? ? ? #Strictly.”

Another expressed frustration with the alterations: “WHY DO THEY KEEP CHANGING THE FORMAT #scd.”

Complaints continued as another added, “I know they’re only small changes but I hate this new format #strictly.”

Queries also arose about the missing opening performance, with one person posting, “Why have we stopped starting with a group number i’m so confused #strictly” and another sharing, “I don’t like this new format of not opening with the group dance. Looking forward to the rom com dance #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”, reports the Mirror.

Disappointment lingered with another comment: “The Sunday opening dance is always the best. Where is it? #Strictly.”

This upset comes hot on the heels of Saturday night’s show opener which saw the pro dancers get into character as Minions from Despicable Me, complete with Kai Widdrington starring as Gru to the delight of the audience, while his fellow professionals slipped into yellow bodysuits to emulate the cartoon icons.

Meanwhile, the celebrities and their dance partners dazzled with movie-inspired routines complete with stunning costumes. However, Sunday will sadly see the second celebrity exit the show.

Ahead of the weekend, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were scheduled to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 before Nick had to withdraw on Friday due to an injury. This follows last weekend’s departure of Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, who were the first pair to leave the competition.
