British tourists who visit Spain are “animals” whereas Americans go for the “culture”, according to an American holidaymaker.

Rick, a travel content creator with 13,000 followers on TikTok under the handle @clout.eater, has delivered a scathing attack on Brits abroad after spending time in Valencia, on Spain‘s eastern coast. Evidently, he hasn’t taken kindly to encountering Brits during his stay.

He posted a video over the weekend outlining what he perceives as the stark contrast between American and British visitors to Spain. According to Rick, while Americans go to immerse themselves in the culture, Brits just want to get smashed.

He said: “I think the thing you have to understand about British tourists in Spain is that to them, visiting Europe isn’t some grand, elegant, once-in-a-lifetime experience like it is for most Americans. You can fly here from London for less than $100, it’s only a couple of hours or two-and-a-half hours

“So imagine a bunch of people taking Spirit Airlines flights to Miami or Vegas, but they’re going to Spain instead. So, whereas the average American tourist is here to at least try and experience the culture, see the churches, all that sort of thing – the British tourist wants to just sit in the sun and get hammered on the beach, and forget about whatever cloudy hellhole they came here to escape.”

Rick likened Brits on holiday in Spain to a “less fancy” version of Americans partying in Cancun. He added: “Which really ought to put into perspective what kind of animals these people are.” His brutal comments quickly went viral, amassing more than 120,000 views and igniting a flurry of heated reactions.

One commenter lashed out: “Calling all British tourists animals is like saying everyone called Rick is an opinionated c*** – in your case that’s true.” Another, more composed TikTok user said: “*Some British tourists. It’s like us saying ALL American tourists are loud and obnoxious. Some are, some aren’t. Same with British tourists.”

And while there were those who took umbrage with Rick’s remarks, others agreed. One said: “He’s not wrong. And they go for at least two weeks.” Another said: “There are many types of British tourists, many of us love and appreciate the culture…. It will often depend on the resort (i.e Benidorm).”
