A pensioner was hospitalised after suffering a vicious assault in the Ferguslie area of Paisley on Friday night.

Detectives in Renfrewshire are appealing for information following the serious incident. The 67-year-old man was in Candren Road around 11.50pm when he was attacked.

He was taken to the town’s Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police are now asking anybody with information regarding the assault to get in touch.

Detective constable Colin Leggat of CID said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.

“I would also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could assist with the investigation.”
