Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) is appealing for information following a rise in graffiti across Perth.
A number of the most recent incidents have the tags ‘Venom’ and ‘Shaker’ and have been reported to the police.
The local authority is looking to remove the graffiti as soon as possible but has called for the public’s help in catching the vandals.
While the council has a system in place to deal with graffiti, it takes both time and money from the public purse to remove it.
Larger graffiti is painted over by individuals – as part of their Community Payback Order – in the Unpaid Work Team.
A PKC spokesperson said: “We have noted an increase in graffiti in Perth City in recent weeks. We have a process in place to remove the graffiti as quickly as we can: our Safer Communities wardens have graffiti wipes that can cope with small tags; larger tags are dealt with by Waste Services at Friarton using the Grimebuster industrial pressure washer, and for those areas which need to be painted over, the Unpaid Work Team will carry out the necessary works. Many of the recent incidents include the tags ‘Venom’ and ‘Shaker’, and these have been reported to Police Scotland.
“Bearing in mind the time and costs involved in dealing with graffiti, we would ask anyone who may have information about who is responsible to pass these details, in confidence to Police Scotland online or by calling 101, to our Safer Communities Team by emailing [email protected] or calling 01738 475000, or via Crimestoppers.”
