Fire crews raced to a park in Midlothian after youths reportedly set fire to an “outdoor structure”.

On Saturday, October 5, at around 8.21pm, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to a blaze within Kings Park, Dalkeith.

However, although it’s not known how many people were involved, Edinburgh Live understands teenagers were present.

Flames were spotted by a local, who described the scenes as “vile”.

One fire appliance was dispatched to the scene as firefighters extinguished the blaze within a bin.

It’s understood nobody was hospitalised and there were no reported casualties.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.21pm on Saturday, October 5 to reports of an outdoor structure on fire near to Eskbank Road, Dalkeith.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
