A body has been found in a river during searches for a man reported missing from West Dunbartonshire. Jamie Gardiner, 47, was last seen at Renton train station at around 2pm on Wednesday, October 2.

He had not been seen or heard from since and police appealed for information as part of their efforts to trace him. Sadly, officers have now confirmed that a body was recovered from the River Leven in the Glasgow Road area of Dumbarton at around 10.45am on Monday.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but Jamie’s heartbroken family have been informed. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances relating to the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.45am on Monday, October 7, 2024, the body of a man was recovered from the River Leven in the Glasgow Road area of Dumbarton.

Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Jamie Gardiner, 47, reported missing from Renton on Friday, October 4, have been made aware. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
