The slip road onto the eastbound M8 at Junction 3 Livingston will be closed between 8pm and 6am on the nights of 16 and 17 October.

This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out routine inspection works on the bridge carrying the A899 over the M8.

During these closures, a signed diversion will be in place directing traffic on the A899 looking to join the M8 eastbound to continue northbound on the A899 to Dechmont Roundabout, take the A89 west to Boghall Roundabout and then the A779 to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 3A Starlaw Interchange. This will add an approximate 7 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans in advance.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “It is essential that this slip road is closed for the safety of road users and the workforce while these routine inspection works are undertaken.

“We’ve programmed the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and thank motorists in advance for their patience and understanding.”
