If there’s one thing I know to be true about chocolate, it’s that bars were better when we were kids.

The 90s and 00s were the ‘peak’ decades for chocolate (IMO), with confectionery shelves lined with everything from Cadbury Dream bars, to Mars Delights, and the Spira back in the day.

But one treat that was a childhood staple, and has continued to be a firm favourite with many, is the Milky Way (and those Crispy Rolls too).

Made by Mars Wrigley, the tasty chocolate bar features a lightly whipped centre, encased in smooth milk chocolate.

The sweet treat has been hailed ‘the best’ chocolate bar by Reddit users, who also described it as ‘amazing’, their ‘favourite’ and say that it ‘hits different’.

If you’re a fan, then we’ve got some exciting news to share, as Mars has just announced they’ve put a spin on the classic chocolate and launched a Milky Way chocolate milk drink.

The product is said to have the same ‘iconic taste’ as the chocolate bar, but in liquid form. It’s packaged in an eco-friendly can, is suitable for vegetarians and has no added sugar.

Those wanting to give it a try will need to head down to their local Iceland or Morrisons supermarket, where they’ll find cans. Alternatively the drinks will be for sale in convenience stores.

And Milky Way isn’t the only chocolate bar that’s been transformed into a drink of late, as you can also get Galaxy Milk and Mars Milk in cans too.

This comes after Mars Wrigley recently announced the return of an iconic chocolate bar from the 80s, but with a bit of a catch.

The confectioner, which owns a number of beloved brands such as M&M, Galaxy, and, has announced which hasn’t been a permanent fixture on for 34 years.

This is because the Marathon bar was renamed and became the Snickers bar that we all know and love today.

Snickers first launched in the in 1930, with the sweet treat being named after a horse owned by the Mars family. The bar, which consists of nougat, caramel, and peanuts wrapped in milk chocolate, made its way over to the UK in 1968, but it was given a different name.

For 22 years the chocolate treat was known here as the Marathon bar, but in 1990 Mars decided it was time to bring the UK in line with the rest of the global brand.

At the time there was also a similar, but unrelated, product being in the US called Marathon, which made things a little confusing (especially as the American Marathon looked a lot like a Curly Wurly…) — it’s no surprise they decided to change the name.

Over the next few months Snickers bars sold in Morrisons will feature a return to the retro packaging they once had, with the OG name even coming back.

The limited-edition packaging will be available exclusively at Morrisons until December, so you’ll have a few months to enjoy the blast from the past.
