One hotel reviewer was left stunned after spending a night in a £12.80 room in the north west of England.

Zac Jones, known on TikTok as @zacjonesliverpool, shared footage of his latest stay at Blackpool’s Highbury Hotel.

Upon entering the hotel room, he found a 1980s-style blue patterned carpet, a shelf with a kettle, a chest of drawers and a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall. “Vintage! ” he exclaimed.

“We have a vintage room tonight,” he said, showing off his low double bed with a plain brown duvet cover and pillows. “A bit dirty, but £12.80 this is not bad is it? You’ve even got a television, a kettle, tea and coffee.”

Zac then showed the view from his window, which was mostly neighbouring buildings and no coastal scenery.

He zoomed in on a chair in the corner of the bargain room to reveal a somewhat stained white fabric, commenting: “I definitely don’t think I’ll be using that chair.”

“I think the UV light is going to come in handy here,” Zac added, before finding several dead flies in one of the drawers and inspecting the mattress. “Not a terrible first impression,” he said. “It’s not perfect, there’s a few stains, but I don’t think this is going to be bedbug infested.”

“You know what, for £12.80 a night I’m impressed,” Zac exhaled, before his expression turned to mild disgust at finding grime around the shower seal in the en-suite bathroom that appeared spotless at first glance. He scanned over to the mirror and scrutinised the loo, remarking: “I’ve seen worse but there are a couple of hairs.”

He concluded his inspection with an upward nod towards the window, revealing faux flowers resting in mould, yet affirming, “But for £12.80? I’m taking this all day.”

His followers chimed in on the value deal after watching his disclosure, with one retorting: “For £12.80 that is a serious bargain.”

“How anyone can complain for that price? ” questioned another TikToker, while a third admitted: “Honestly as far as there’s no bed bugs and the bedding was washed I’d be fine with that.”

Echoing the sentiment, a fourth applauded: “Cheaper than a hostel. it’s fantastic for that price. I’ve slept in worse and paid 10x.”

Moreover, a fifth jokingly calculated that permanently residing in the room would slash living costs compared to renting privately, stating: “You could pay 358.40 every month to live here, for someone who is homeless say, this would be an absolute saving grace!” They praised the amenities, listing “Warm bed, kettle, tv etc.”
