It’s only just returned to our screens, as AJ Odudu and Will Best welcomed 16 fresh faces into the Big Brother house for its highly-anticipated launch.

And it seems personalities are set to clash already, with Scottish contestant Nathan King stirring up controversy with his political opinions with viewers and his new roomies.

It’s been tipped that he will get involved in a spat with climate activist Daze ahead of tonight’s show on Tuesday, October 8. The pair are said to clash over views of the monarchy, with Nathan having previously worked as a butler for King Charles.

While chatting with fellow non-housemates Lily and Emma, Nathan revealed his past as a butler for the King. Daze, however, expressed her disdain for the monarchy, arguing that the public should not be footing the bill for their lavish lifestyle.

“I don’t really care about them, but I don’t like the fact that we’re paying for them… The fact that we’re paying for them when everyone is like economically strapped,” Daze stated.

Nathan argued the monarchy contributed to the country’s tourism industry. Daze dismissed this, insisting that the monarchy’s expenses far outweighed any potential revenue. “We’ve got so many poor kids who don’t get to eat, we’ve got pensioners who can’t afford their own fuel, like we can’t… like those two worlds shouldn’t be able to exist,” she argued.

Nathan defended the monarchy, emphasising its historical significance. As the conversation escalated, it became clear that the two housemates held vastly different perspectives on the monarchy. Will they find common ground, or is this the start of a bitter personality clash?

Elsewhere, viewers took to social media following the launch episode. One wrote, “I feel like we need to get Nathan out first!,” as someone else said: “Nathan is a twat. He needs to be evicted tonight. Get him gone. Now! #BBUK.”

Another quipped: “Ok we hate Nathan already don’t we, public enemy number one before he even enters the house #BigBrother.”

“Just threw up in my mouth over nathan from big brother. why do you think being a tory makes you edgy and different xx #bbuk,” quipped someone else as another viewer highlighted, “with Nathan, just the Farage support says a lot…”

However he did have some support, as someone said: “Okay , I cant be the only one who absolutely loves Nathan in big brother , my No.1 right now , just hope he doesn’t make being a Tory his whole personality in there which so far he hasn’t !!! #bbuk.”

Nathan, who crossed paths with high-profile guests, including the President of Ireland, broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh and Queen Camilla during his time at Dumfries House, is hoping his royal connection will make him a viewer favourite.

The former royal servant, whose housemates include a young amputee footballer and a 53-year-old aesthetics practitioner, has been looking forward to his time in the BB house.

He said: “I am excited to be a housemate for so many reasons but to narrow it down I thought living in a house with other people would be so different. I’m looking forward to that because that’s slightly out of my comfort zone. To be in a house with that many people will be a challenge, but I’m looking forward to it. If I could pick a dream celebrity housemate it would be George Michael. He would be the number 1. In terms of singing and the absolute best. I think he’d be a real laugh.”
