AUSTIN, Texas — A new report finds rent in Austin continues to get more expensive.

A report by Zumper looked at month-to-month data for one-bedroom apartments. Average rent in Texas runs $1,400 a month, while one-bedroom apartments in Austin went up 3.4% to $1,530 last month.

Two-bedroom units in Austin grew 4.3% to $1,930, according to the report.

Round Rock and Cedar Park follow on the list of the most expensive one-bedroom rent in the metro area at $1,300 a month.

In the metro area, San Marcos had the fastest-growing rent, up 5.9% since this time last year. Cedar Park saw rent climb 1.5%, making it the second fastest growing. Round Rock was third with rent increasing 0.7%.

Meanwhile, Cedar Park had the largest monthly growth rate, up 3.8%. Austin came in second, while Leander ranked as third with rent increasing 3.1% last month.

The least expensive city in the metro area was Pflugerville, with a median one-bedroom price of $1,230 – a 3.1% monthly decrease. Georgetown also saw a decrease, down 5.8% from the previous month and down 7.9% since this time last year.

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report looks at active listings that hit the market last month. Listings are aggregated by city to calculate median asking rents. The full report can be found on the Zumper website.
