Many of us in the UK are all too familiar with the issue of limescale wreaking havoc in our homes.

This chalky deposit can start to show up everywhere – from the inside of your kettle or coffee machine to your shower and bath.

But perhaps one of the most annoying places is inside the toilet, as it can make it appear unsanitary regardless of how frequently you clean this area. Moreover, a build-up of limescale can lead to plumbing problems, which are notoriously costly to repair.

However, getting rid of limescale from your toilet doesn’t have to be a challenge, as one tip circulating on social media could revolutionise your cleaning routine. Cleaning influencer Jessica May on TikTok, who has a dedicated following of over 272,000 people, suggests using a pumice stone to effectively tackle toilet limescale.

In her video, she’s seen gently scraping the long thin stone around the toilet bowl, with the dirty residue then falling off and being rinsed away. For an extra thorough clean, add a scoop of baking soda and a cup of white vinegar into the bowl before flushing to reveal your immaculately clean toilet.

A pack of two pumice stones is available for £5.79 from Amazon, making this an ideal budget-friendly hack as well, reports the Express.

Jessica also shared a handy tip on how to get rid of limescale from ‘just about anywhere’ by whipping up a simple mixture and applying it with your dish sponge.

A blend of equal parts dish soap and white vinegar can effectively combat stubborn limescale found around the house, such as around taps or plugholes.

However, Jessica revealed she prefers using this concoction for her shower screens, as it not only removes limescale but also adds a desirable shine to the glass.

She suggested keeping this mixture in your shower for easy access and quick use whenever needed.

For those struggling with kettle limescale, Jessica recommends an effortless solution of pouring in one cup of water and one cup of vinegar before boiling it.

This mix acts as a natural descaler, ensuring that after rinsing, your kettle is limescale-free and safe to use again.

In response to the video, viewers expressed their gratitude towards Jessica for her advice. One person wrote: “Loved the pumice stone hack. It definitely [blew] my mind.”

Another enthused: “Love these tips!”
