If you’re striving for “thicker hair” and haven’t found success, a dermatologist may have just the remedy you need.

Dr Neera, who shares her expertise on TikTok under the handle @dermatologysurgeon, revealed she experienced hair loss herself, but a four-minute trick significantly aided her in regaining her lush locks, and insists on not “gatekeeping” the method.

On her own “hair growth journey”, Dr Neera divulged “three hair growth secrets” to help thicken and fortify your hair. The first step is a straightforward daily action guaranteed to yield results.

She advises to “massage your scalp for four minutes a day for thicker hair” using any scalp massager you prefer. But what’s the science behind it?

The Wimpole Clinic explained: “Scalp massage works by increasing blood flow to your follicles. Massaging your scalp can also stretch the cells of the hair follicles, which stimulates them to produce thicker, stronger hair.”

Healthline also claimed: “Researchers reported that hair regrowth was ‘significantly improved’ among those who underwent scalp massages compared to the control group.

“According to a small 2016 study, researchers concluded that regular scalp massages may lead to thicker hair.”

Dr Neera’s subsequent recommendation is to “use Nizoral shampoo at least two times a week to reduce hair fall and hair loss”.

In the comments section, one person noted: “I looked on Amazon for Nizarol and it’s all anti-dandruff shampoo.” Dr Neera replied: “Yes. But it contains ketoconazole which has been shown in studies to help with hair shedding and hair loss.”

She also suggested incorporating a laser comb into one’s routine to “stimulate new hair growth”.

Some commenters expressed scepticism about the laser comb, citing its high cost, while others supported the method, stating it utilises “red light therapy which actually works”. Dr Neera advised using the laser comb “two times a week”.
