A man who died after being hit by a car in an early morning crash has been named by police, as his family paid a touching tribute to him three weeks on from his death.
Stephen Craig and another man were struck by a car as they walked in Hawkhead Road, Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
This morning, Police Scotland released a picture of him as they appealed for information on his death and urged the public to get in touch with them.
Stephen’s family paid tribute to the 50-year-old. They said: “Stephen was a devoted husband and father. His loss has been devastating for all who knew him.”
Stephen, of Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, passed away in hospital on Sunday, September 22, 2024. He had been rushed to hospital after the crash, which took place around 8.10am.
He and the other man, 40, had been rushed to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries after emergency services raced to the scene.
The driver of the car was not injured, and officers from Police Scotland are now trying to establish exactly what led to the collision, which caused the road to be shut for eight hours while police investigated.
Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “Our thoughts remain with Stephen’s family at this very difficult time. Enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances of the crash.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, and has yet to speak to officers, to please get in touch.” Anyone with any information should contact police via 101, quoting incident number 0695 of Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
