Two Edinburgh Jet2 passengers have been hauled off a plane in Germany after the aircraft was diverted due to a mid-air ‘incident’.

The LS781 flight to Dalaman in Turkey was diverted to Cologne on Tuesday. It has been confirmed the aircraft was forced to divert due to “disruptive passengers” who were later ejected.

Footage of the on-board ordeal shows the moment two local officers boarded the plane and made their way up the aisle to where the passengers in question were sitting. Shocked fellow flyers can be seen watching on as the flight later arrived in Dalaman three hours behind schedule after departing Edinburgh shortly after 4pm on October 8.

As reported in Edinburgh Live, information on FlightRadar24 shows the flight having departed Edinburgh on time shortly after 4pm. It was due to touch down in Dalaman at around 10.30pm but instead left Cologne at 9.30pm.

A spokesperson for Jet2 confirmed two passengers were offloaded for “disruptive behaviour”. Due to this, theflight was also impacted, forcing the airline to offer passengers hotel accommodation and refreshments.

They said: “We can confirm that flight LS781 from Edinburgh to Dalaman diverted to Cologne yesterday (Tuesday 8th October) due to disruptive passenger behaviour. The flight departed for Dalaman after two passengers were offloaded by police, however the subsequent Dalaman to Edinburgh flight had to night stop in Dalaman.

“We have arranged for hotel accommodation and refreshments for everyone and will have them on their way home as soon as possible.”
