Good Morning Britain has been hit with 700 complaints as angry viewers objected to the nature of an interview with Nigel Farage.
The episode of the ITV breakfast show, which aired on October 2, ended up in Susanna Reid getting into a heated debate with Farage live on air, sparking backlash from fans.
During that broadcast, presenter Susanna came under fire after she welcomed the Reform leader onto the programme to discuss his thoughts about the Conservatives and immigration, while claiming that he was the man behind “getting Brexit done.”
Throughout the show, Susanna seemingly interrupted the politician on numerous occasions as she told the Clacton MP it was a Conservative government that triggered the Brexit referendum and ultimately saw Brexit happen.
The GMB host fumed: “It was a Conservative government that got Brexit done, so you’re very critical of the government that actually did what you have been campaigning for your entire life.”
Farage simply chuckled before replying: “None of those things would have happened without me. None of them.” Later on in the fiery exchange, Susanna and her co-host Ed Balls challenged the MP for being “irresponsible and dangerous” after suggesting police were withholding the truth about the Southport attacks.
While the politician shared his views, Susanna continued to talk over him as she reminded him not to risk being in contempt of court. At one point the newsreader shook her head and oulled faces while she continued to fire questions at him during their heated debate.
Fans took to X, formelry known as Twitter, at the time to voice their displeasure with Susanna interview style on Good Morning Britain, notably during her interaction with Farage. One viewer remarked: “Regardless of viewers’ opinions of Nigel Farage that had to be the least professional tv interview I have ever seen! Susanna Reid made it all about her in such a personal manner. Her job is to ask questions and comment on the answers given not dominate the whole thing! #GMB.”
Someone else chimed in saying, “I beg Susanna Reid learns how to debate and take turns, as much as one might dislike Nigel Farage, the constant interrupting and snarky comments doesn’t help your case. #GMB.”
Additionally, another tweet read: “Why bother getting Nigel on when all you’re going to do is talk all over him. Give the man a chance to speak… Susanna is doing my head in here #GMB #GoodMorningBritain.”
