BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – A Cadet from a local Civil Air Patrol group has received an award for his dedication, earning him recognition from his peers, and a member of the US Senate.
The Civil Air Patrol says their Amelia Earhart Award is only earned by three percent of Cadets. However, a member of the Mercer Composite Squadron can now add his name to that number. Peyton Bogle, Cadet Commander, Mercer Composite Squadron, was inspired by his mentors in the Civil Air Patrol to pursue the award and through hard work and dedication, was able to achieve that goal on Tuesday.
His squadron invited a special guest to present it, Senator Shelly Moore Capito, (R) West Virginia, who was invited to take part in the ceremony following the group’s visit to Washington D.C.
“It definitely makes me feel important, feel great about myself, knowing that there’s this great recognition that comes with it, just nice knowing that we have people to support me along the way, especially so high throughout the government,” says Bogle.
Senator Capito says she sees leadership roles in Bogle’s future, adding “the sky’s the limit.” Bogle thanks those who showed him support on this journey, especially his family.
