Four Dumfries Harriers took part in the A J Bell Great Scottish Run on Sunday, one of the biggest races in the Scottish running calendar.

Starting in Glasgow city centre, all four were taking part in the half marathon distance. First Harrier over the line was Closeburn’s Lee Austin in 1.42.36, greatly improving on his recent Great North Run. He said: “My goal today was to go under 1.45, so I’m more than happy with the result today.”

Running together and supporting each other over the course were Marc Scott and Callum Brown, and with both runners carrying niggles, training had been somewhat less than perfect so the goal was simply to get the job done, but still both crossed the line in a solid 1.48.

Also running in the 10k distance was Marc’s son Luke, the future Harrier, logging an outstanding time of 39.38. Katherine Kerr squeezed in just under the two hour barrier in 1.59.08

Great Cumbrian Run

Over the border, two Harrier ladies ran the 10k of the Great Cumbrian run celebrating its 40th edition. Rachel Cameron and Alison Todd ran together, amusing each other over the 10k route with bird call impressions, crossing the line in 1.15.
