A woman allegedly caught cooking her mother’s body parts in the oven of her Kentucky home has been formally indicted on charges of murder and animal torture.

Torilena Fields is accused of shooting her mother, Trudy Fields, in the head and stabbing her multiple times before dismembering her corpse. She also tortured and killed the family dog, according to an indictment handed down by a grand jury on Monday.

Prosecutors during the brief court appearance argued that Fields was not acting under the influence of “extreme emotional disturbance for which there was a reasonable explanation or excuse” at the time. They did however acknowledge she was on drugs, WJHL reported.

Her bond has been set at $1.5 million.

Troopers with Kentucky State Police were called on Oct. 9 to Trudy’s home in Mt. Olivet to investigate reports that a body had been found there. When they arrived on the scene shortly after noon, they were met by a worker on the property, who told them he found a clump of hair, then a blood-stained mattress and eventually the victim’s dismembered body in the backyard.

The arms, legs, and head had reportedly been removed from the body, and the torso was severed.

Inside the residence, state troopers encountered 32-year-old Fields, who had blood all over her face, hands and clothes at the time. When officers ordered her to leave the home, she refused, prompting an hours-long standoff, which grew to involve a Kentucky State Police Special Response Team. They eventually used tear gas to force Fields from the residence,

A subsequent search of the home around 11 p.m. uncovered several of Trudy’s body parts cooking in a stainless steel pot inside the oven. Police said they also found organs and body parts on a second mattress near Trudy’s remains outside. Her daughter was initially arrested on charges of obstructing governmental operations, evidence tampering and abusing a corpse.

According to a police citation,  the worker who found Trudy Fields’ body told police the victim’s daughter was “casting spells on them and being confrontational” when he was on the property a day earlier,
