McDOWELL COUNTY, W.Va. – A McDowell County man will serve two years and six months in prison for Federal Drug Crimes, the Department of Justice announced. The announcement was made on Oct. 15 by the Department of Justice. (DOJ)

The DOJ said the man sentenced is 44 year-old Lansen Sharif Waugh from Kyle, in McDowell County. According to court documents and court statements, on June 15, 2021, Waugh sold controlled substances that contained cocaine and methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a house in Kyle.

The DOJ said Waugh admitted to the sale, and also admitted to selling cocaine and a controlled substance containing heroin and fentanyl to the confidential informant two other times.

On July 2, 2021, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Waugh’s house and found two firearms and additional amounts of cocaine, and the DOJ said Waugh admitted that he planned on selling the cocaine found during the search.

Waugh was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, which will be followed by three years of supervised release, for distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine.
