There’s a lot to remember as a new driver.

Knowing the priority of the road is one thing, but another crucial topic is understanding the warning lights on your dashboard. It’s easy to forget at times, especially when you’ve been behind the wheel for many years.

Now one TikTok user delighted her 1.1million followers with handy knowledge after her dashboard warning light came up in her car. The user, known as @master_driver666, often shares her motoring hacks and tips online.

In the quick 43-second clip, she said: “Look, did you see this yellow light? It’s the engine fault light, if this light comes on and you go to a repair shop, how much do you think they will cheat you?

“Today I tell you how to solve it without spending a penny. Find the battery in the engine bay, the plus sign is the positive pole. The minus sign is the negative pole.”

She continued explaining how to remove the screw on the negative side before waiting 10 seconds then reinstalling it again. Next up you’ll need to tighten the screws, then once that’s done, it’s time to check the car.

The user added: “We start the car and see the effect. Look, the fault light is off. Great!” Since she shared the handy tip, it garnered nearly 300 likes and numerous comments from fans.

One pointed out: “Initially warning appears when there is something faulty in the engine. If you keep driving, warning goes red.” Then another left a positive emoji under the comments section.

While it’s easy to ignore dashboard warning signs, there are many guides online which can help you understand what your car really needs. Usually green or blue lights simply let you know the system is on or operating.

Meanwhile, orange and yellow warning lights generally signify your vehicle needs to be serviced or repaired soon. But it becomes more urgent when the colour is red or flashing. A red light means you need to take immediate action.
