BEDA holds educational opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn from tourism leaders

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – A free class was held this evening at the Bluefield Arts Center to help aspiring entrepreneurs capitalize on the region’s growing “adventure tourism” industry.

This class centered around the “Hatfield and McCoy Effect” where participants learned from tourism leaders on how they can utilize the local ATV industry to help start or grow their business.

Jeff Lusk, executive director of the Hatfield McCoy Trails says this local and out of state business owner has a great opportunity to help grow tourism and economic development in Mercer County.

Tourism is one of the fastest growing businesses in West Virginia,” said Lusk. “The taxes help support our local government. Entrepreneurs, they create jobs, they create businesses. We think that this has a very positive impact on Mercer County. We think it’s only going to continue to grow. As tourism in West Virginia grows, we think Mercer County tourism is going to grow right in tandem along with the trail system.”

This class was organized by the Bluefield Economic Development Authority (BEDA).
