Livingston residents were left terrified after fireworks were set off from a moving car. Shocking footage shows locals ducking for cover after the pyros were shot from the window of a car on Sunday, October 13 at around 6.50pm on Kenilworth Rise.

Locals from the housing estate hit out at the motorist’s ‘reckless driving’ and said they were endangering pedestrians who were walking nearby.

The local, who wished to remain anonymous, told Edinburgh Live: “They came racing up the street firing off fireworks. People from inside both cars were setting them off but my camera only captured the one vehicle.

“People were by the road but the drivers did not seem to care. It’s made our area unsafe and you are not able to take the dog for a walk.

“It’s infuriating as this has happened three nights in a row, fireworks being shot in all directions at cars, at people walking dogs and even in the play park. I want my neighbourhood to be safe for my children and their kids.

“We have a garden we are unable to use because it is unsafe at present. I believe all public sales of fireworks should be banned if people cannot be responsible.”

Two cars can be seen going round in circles in front of homes as fireworks explode from what appears to be one of the vehicles windows.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 7.05pm on Sunday, 13 October 2024 police received a report of a car discharging fireworks in the Kenilworth Rise area of Livingston. Enquiries are ongoing.”
