Courtney Love’s rather confusing story about Chris Martin managed to completely baffle her Never Mind the Buzzcocks co-stars.

In the new series’ first episode, the 90s rockstar was tasked with leading her team to victory in the musically-themed quiz panel show, stepping in for Daisy May Cooper as a team captain on the Sky Max programme.

However, it didn’t take long for her to get side-tracked and go on a mighty tangent, recalling an encounter she had with Coldplay star Chris, 47, while answering a question.

‘I went to see Coldplay at the National History Museum, and I love many things about Chris Martin,’ Courtney, 60, began.

‘A, he’s a feminist in the best way,’ she continued. ‘And B, I had to fake my way through a three-hour conversation on Muse. I faked it really good. That’s not the point.’

As she continued down this unknown path, her teammates Joel Dommett, and Abi Harding looked baffled, while rival team members Noel Fielding, Glen Matlock and Jamali Maddix looked equally confused.

Attempting to get some clarity, host Greg Davies asked: ‘Is the point about Muse? Is it about Coldplay?’

‘No, it’s about Matt Bellamy,’ she shouted in response.

Greg, 56, nodded after receiving the information that her story centred on the Muse lead singer… but his face told a different story.

Courtney continued: ‘He goes “Oh divorced boys row” and he names a street that I always wanted to live on when I grew up.

‘On the street, Sean Penn. On that street, Matt Bellamy. On that street, Chris Martin.

‘I was like “Oh my god, I can’t live on that street”,’ she concluded.

After she finished the explanation, Greg simply said: ‘I see.’

The group couldn’t help but break out into laughter as Courtney then returned to answering questions, offering little acknowledgement of the bewildering nature of her anecdote.
