Fearless Alasdair Rankin, managing director of Dumfries-based Aitken Turnbull Architects, has completed an epic fundraising tandem sky-dive.

Alasdair rose to the adventurous charitable challenge, which was selected by his fellow staff members, in support of the firm’s chosen charity partner for this year – Scottish Action for Mental Health.

The intrepid boss descended 15,000 ft from a twin-engine aircraft high above Peterlee Airfield in Co Durham and has exceeded his initial £1,500 target for SAMH – with contributions continuing to roll-in towards £2,000.

He said: “I relished the opportunity to do this sky dive. It took me way out of my comfort zone, but when we reflect on the fantastic work done by SAMH and how they transform thousands of lives, I was more than delighted to take part. My thanks got to, not my Aitken Turnbull colleagues for their very inspired suggestion and to the team at Sky-High Sky Diving for their invaluable help on the day, but also to everyone who sponsored me.”

So far this year, Aitken Turnbull’s charity endeavours has raised almost £7,000 for SAMH after the firm also participated in the Edinburgh Marathon Relay and raised funds at their corporate day at Kelso Races.
