Comfortable underwear can make life significantly easier, particularly when it doesn’t require constant adjustment to avoid discomfort or awkward positioning.

One woman has decided to share some hard-earned wisdom with others to prevent them from making the same mistakes she did.

Social media user @erim confessed she “didn’t grow up with a mum” and therefore lacked guidance on these matters. “So sis didn’t have the talk about fabrics and health and stuff like that,” she explained in her video.

She admitted that during her younger years, while shopping at her local mall, she naively believed that if big retailers were selling something, it must be good for her – a belief she later realised was misguided.

“I would go to Victoria’s Secret, Primark, H&M and I would always pick up those really cute seamless ones, I would always grab the cute lacy ones – I was like ooh, she’s cute. These options are here because they must be good for me because I trust these retailers,” she said.

She then warned: “It is so bad for you to wear non-natural fabrics down there. Guys, opt for the cotton ones. Cotton comes in thong, G-string, Brazilian, cheeky, briefs – anything you want there’s a cotton option. Minimum I’d say 95% cotton because the 5% you need the elastic so it’s stretchy and comfortable when you sit down.”

“It’s so much better”, she concluded in the video clip. The commentary section was abuzz with viewers inputting their top choices, as one enthusiast remarked: “M&S cotton high leg knickers all the way.”

Another added their preference, writing: “I wear proper high waist cotton ones and always have from like 17 the best literally don’t care what anyone thinks comfort all the way.”

Meanwhile, a fellow TikTok user confessed: “Honestly I am wearing the biggest knickers. Anything else is for show as and when needed.”

In an informative note, Healthline advises: “Synthetic materials like nylon and spandex don’t allow the area to breathe. Instead, they trap heat and moisture, creating a perfect breeding ground for yeast infections. Natural, breathable fabrics, specifically cotton underwear, are best to support your vaginal health.”
