A man is fighting for his life while a woman is also in hospital following a ‘disturbance’ outside a premises in Orkney.
Emergency services raced to Burnmouth Road in Kirkwall after the alarm was raised at around 10.40pm on Tuesday. Ambulance crews attended and a 38-year-old man was taken to Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall for treatment.
He was later conveyed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where he remains in critical condition. A 39-year-old woman was also taken to Balfour Hospital for treatment. Her condition is currently unknown. Officers say their enquires into establishing the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a disturbance outside a premises on Burnmouth Road, Kirkwall around 10.40pm on Tuesday, 15 October, 2024.
“A 38-year-old man was taken to Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall and later conveyed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where he remains in critical condition. A 39-year-old woman was also taken to Balfour Hospital for treatment. Enquires are ongoing.”
