Liam Payne and Cheryl, the former Girls Aloud singer, had a strong relationship that faced challenges after the birth of their son, Bear.

The couple, who parted ways in 2018 following Bear’s arrival in 2017, had shed light on the issues that led to their split.

Cheryl first encountered Liam when he auditioned for The X Factor at 14, with their romance blossoming years later in 2015.

Liam, who had aspired to be a father since his teens, hoped for a tranquil family life with Cheryl.

Despite his reluctance to pursue a solo career post-One Direction, Cheryl, now 40, encouraged him to try. However, their relationship began to deteriorate, with Liam even suggesting that becoming parents “ruined” their romance, albeit for “all the right reasons”.

In a shocking turn of events, news has broken of Liam Payne’s tragic death. The 31-year-old artist was vacationing in Buenos Aires with his partner Kate Cassidy when he tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel.

Liam rose to fame as part of One Direction, formed on The X Factor in 2011 under Simon Cowell’s guidance, alongside Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan, reports the Mirror.

Reports indicate that Liam fell from the third floor of a hotel building in Buenos Aires. Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and ambulances, were seen outside the hotel after Liam’s tragic fall.

Authorities were called to the scene following reports of a man acting aggressively at the hotel, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A body was discovered in an internal patio area of the hotel, with police alerted by the hotel manager.

It’s believed Liam fell around 13-14 meters, sustaining “very serious injuries incompatible with life.”

In a statement, the local ambulance manager told TN: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”

Liam, who had been on holiday in Argentina, had been sharing his adventures with fans on TikTok and Snapchat, alongside girlfriend Kate Cassidy. The 31-year-old had been traveling the world, hinting at new music in the works.

We take a look back at Liam’s relationship with Cheryl, with whom he shared a close bond. Despite their split, Cheryl and Liam Payne still share a close bond and want the best for each other.

Cheryl was reportedly “really worried” about her ex after he was rushed to hospital, leading to the cancellation of his tour due to a severe kidney infection. This concern was heightened by a previous hospital dash last year.

A source close to the Girls Aloud star revealed: “Cheryl is really worried about Liam. As soon as she heard he was in hospital, she feared the worst.”

“She’s really protective of him and is worried no one is actually looking out for him.”

The insider suggested that his recent hospitalisation was a “red flag” for Cheryl, who understands the pressures of touring and making money, according to Heat magazine. Co-parenting their son Bear, the former couple live near each other to ensure they can both be present in his life.

Liam enjoys quality time with Bear and praised Cheryl’s parenting skills on Logan Paul’s podcast Impulsive, saying: “She is the best mum in the world. I couldn’t ask for someone better.”

He added: “I get to take my son to school one or two times a week and it’s the best thing. The relationship we have now as friends has only grown more.

“We broke up for a reason and now she gives me full autonomy of my life and to do what I do and I know he’s [Bear’s] taken care of. He is all she cares about and I couldn’t ask for more. They live like three minutes from my house. I always glue myself to where he is. My life now is his. My money is his. He’s a lovely, lovely boy. We’ve been blessed.”

Following their split, Liam made some harsh remarks implying that their son Bear was the cause of their separation. In an interview with Logan Paul, the One Direction star discussed the end of his two-year relationship with Cheryl, stating: “To be honest with you, it ruined a relationship at that point – but for all the right reasons.”

He disclosed that the birth of Bear was frightening as Cheryl “haemorrhaged quite badly” post-delivery.

This required Cheryl to rest for most of Bear’s first day, leaving a young Liam to look after their newborn son. “It was me and a baby in the room and I had to take care of it. It was fun,” he shared.

Liam candidly discussed the disputes he had with Cheryl, often making them public. On the Capital Breakfast show, as split rumours swirled, he quipped about their spats and even made an awkward joke regarding Cheryl’s accent, saying: “I’m a West Brom fan, but that’s not the problem. Sometimes it is! Well, this is the thing, I mean Cheryl’s not really that massively into football but she likes to bring up where they’re from when this happens, isn’t it, it’s like ‘oh well I’m from here so I’m gonna do this’, erm, that was a great Geordie accent… [laughs].

“That is what she sounds like in the morning! ” He continued to jest about family dynamics, adding: “It’s like battle of the grandads at the minute, and he’s going to have a tough little choice on his hands at some point because you’re going to have to disappoint some grandparents. Or he’ll just have to go ‘you know what, forget this, I like ice hockey’. Pick a different sport.”

In a cringe-worthy moment just a month before their breakup, Liam embarrassed Cheryl by interrupting her during a live phone call with BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw while she was in the toilet.

He admitted to Grimmy: “She’s actually in the toilet, this is hilarious,” despite Grimmy’s pleas of “Don’t ask her in the toilet,” which were met with laughter. Unfazed, Liam proceeded to question Cheryl about her bathroom routine.

Liam jokingly asked Cheryl about the reason for her sudden exit, laughing and saying: “Oh she’s coming out now, one second. Let’s find out what’s going on. First off, was it a number one or two? ” He then added, “Erm, she says ‘stop it’.

She’s going to kill me after this phone call, this could be the last thing you ever-” At that point, Cheryl took the phone from Liam and had a chat with Grimmy, joking that the radio host should join her team. This incident occurred after Liam had given an interview discussing the couple’s relationship struggles, which reportedly left Cheryl “furious”.

In the interview, Liam shared details about their private life, including the challenges they faced in finding time for each other after the birth of their son Bear in 2017.
