Former One Direction star Liam Payne has tragically passed away at the age of 31. Just before the heartbreaking news broke, Liam had been sharing snaps from his holiday in Argentina on social media.
The singer was seen posing shirtless with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who donned a black bikini and gave fans an insight into his day through Snapchat updates. He shared glimpses of their relaxed breakfast, jokingly commenting that they were “enjoying coffee” at around 1pm and revealing that staying in bed until noon was usual for them.
On Snapchat, he walked followers through his day’s plans, which included horse riding and possibly playing Polo – a sport he admitted was challenging and could cause aches. The former boyband member, who was only 31-years-old, also shared his love for art with his 1.32 million subscribers by displaying some artwork around him.
In addition, he posted a picture of a black dog sleeping between his legs, playfully asking his followers to “Caption this.”
These posts were made just 45 minutes before the announcement of Liam’s death, the clips are thought to have been delayed posts. He had been holidaying in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires, reports OK!.
Local media reports suggest he suffered a fatal fall from the third floor of his hotel. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
TMZ reports that the singer exhibited unusual behaviour before his tragic death, including smashing his laptop. He was said to have been carried back to his hotel room.
Liam was a member of the popular five-piece band One Direction, which also included Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles. The group was formed on the hit reality TV show X-Factor in 2010 by Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger.
In a shocking move, Zayn left the band in 2015, and the entire band went on a “hiatus.”
Following One Direction’s split in 2016, Liam pursued a solo music career. He is also known as the father of Bear Payne, whom he shares with Cheryl Fernandez, formerly Cheryl Cole.
It is believed that former X Factor star Liam suffered a fall from approximately 13 or 14 metres, leading to what has been described as “very serious injuries incompatible with life.”
Reports suggest that a body was found in the internal courtyard of a hotel, prompting the hotel manager to call the police. A local ambulance chief was quoted: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.”
“At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”
