Armed police stormed a Fife street this morning after a man was reportedly seen kicking down a house door wielding a machete.

Emergency services raced to Benarty Avenue in Crosshill, Fife, at around 7am after reports of a disturbance.

Horrified locals reported seeing the man waving the weapon around whilst attempting to boot down the entrance to a property.

Multiple police vehicles and armed officers were seen on the street as they hunted for the suspect.

Cops confirmed they have launched a probe into the incident and are searching for the man, who has not yet been detained.

The force have made an appeal to anyone with any information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.10am on Thursday, 17 October, 2024, police received a report of a man in possession of a weapon, causing a disturbance outside a property in Benarty Avenue, Crosshill.

“Officers are in attendance and a search of the area is underway. There are no reports of any injuries and enquiries are ongoing.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around this time who may have witnessed the incident.”
