Maya Henry, the former fiancée of the late One Direction star Liam Payne, is enduring a barrage of online abuse following the 31-year-old singer’s tragic death at his hotel in Argentina on Wednesday night.

Liam met a tragic end after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, sustaining “very serious injuries incompatible with life”.

Heartbroken fans have been congregating outside the establishment in the capital’s verdant Palermo district as emergency services including police, firefighters and ambulances attended the scene.

The untimely demise of the pop star has occurred amidst a flurry of startling allegations made by his ex-fiancee Maya Henry, 23, who initiated legal proceedings against him earlier this week.

The model took legal steps, issuing a cease and desist letter to Payne, alleging that he had been incessantly contacting her through various iCloud accounts.

Henry’s legal representatives informed MailOnline: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”

The influencer, who became engaged to Payne in August 2020 before their separation in 2022, is now facing a torrent of vile attacks on social media, with some individuals even holding her responsible for Liam’s death, reports the Mirror.

A comment on an Instagram photo of the 23-year-old read: “Now he is dead. Are you happy? ” while another bluntly stated: “Liam Payne is dead because of you.”

A third commenter accused: “It was all your fault.”

Maya, who has been vocal about Liam in recent weeks, has not yet publicly commented on the devastating news of his passing.

A source close to her told the Daily Mail: “Right now she is obviously in shock” revealing that she only learned of the tragic news after a member of her team was contacted by a journalist.

Earlier this month, Maya made a series of explosive allegations against the singer on TikTok, causing quite a stir online. She claimed: “Ever since we broke up he will blow up my phone. It’s always from different phone numbers too so I never know where it is going to come from.

“He will create new iCloud accounts to iMessage me. It’s always a damn new iCloud account. Each time I see a new one pop up on my phone I’m like ‘oh here we go again’. He will also email me.”

She further added: “There is no right and wrong time to speak out on these topics. It’s disturbing that this man is still doing these things to me. I am disgusted by this diabolical behaviour. This is beyond disgusting and flabbergasting to say the least.”

At the time, Maya was promoting her debut novel, ‘Looking Forward’, a romance that mirrors life about a girl who falls for a pop star.

In an interview on ‘The Internet Is Dead’ podcast, Maya opened up about Liam’s struggles with addiction, revealing that she felt his attempts to reach out were a “manipulation tactic” to make her feel guilty.

Maya shared: “I always felt like it was so I’d continue to feel bad for him. He would always message me ever since we broke up, like ‘Oh, I’m not well.’ He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die. I’m not doing well.”

She continued: “When I announced my book, he did the same thing, he called my mum” and said ‘I think I’m not gonna be around much longer'”.

Maya issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.

Maya also alleged that Liam took advantage of One Direction fans’ loyalty, which allowed him to get away with his alleged problematic behaviour.

She stated: “He’s the one that is constantly doing weird sh*t, and also might I add, he literally said the reason he has all these people on his damn Snapchat, which he has had for years apparently, and messages, is he preys on One Direction fans because they’re loyal to him.”

Maya argued that Liam’s behaviour was enabled by those around him, allowing him to avoid accountability. She said: “When you constantly enable someone they’re never gonna realise what they’ve done is bad, or they do realise and they know they can get away with it, which is what has happened with him for so many years. Everything gets swept under the rug, everything gets hidden for him.

“I don’t know who the hell’s behind all of this but nothing ever comes out about him. It’s hard when you have these people jumping down your throat for speaking the truth on things that have happened, and quite frankly disgusting things that have happened and disgusting things that he’s done.”

In recent weeks, Maya also claimed Liam “never paid for anything” during their time together and would “talk sh*t about his bandmates” despite then “popping up at their concerts” – adding an allegation that Liam once mentioned Zayn Malik had shoved him against a wall during a fiery clash whilst they were both part of the band.

Liam was in Argentina with his partner Kate Cassidy, 25, intending to be present at a Buenos Aires gig by former bandmate Niall Horan.

It is thought police were summoned over concerns of a man behaving aggressively at the CasaSur hotel, potentially influenced by substances. Tragically, shortly after, a body was discovered in an inner courtyard of the establishment.

The individual is said to have fallen from a height between 13 or 14 metres leading to “very serious injuries incompatible with life.” A local medical service chief informed TN: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.”.
